Procedures:
Creating a new MARC record in Destiny:
1. Under the “Catalog” tab select “Add Title.”
2. First, try to see if copy cataloging will work. For more information see the copy cataloging policies and procedures.
3. If copy cataloging does not work than select “Add Title” from the right side of the screen.
4. Fill in the fields and subfields shown below for the respective material type.
5. First select the material type that you wish to catalog. To fill in the information for the various fields simply click in the gray areas and it will allow you to add/edit information. If you are unsure about a particular tag, simply select the ? symbol for more information. If you need to add a tag select “Add Tag,” from the top or the bottom of the page.
When completing/editing a MARC record for the following material types make sure that the following fields and subfields have at least been identified and filled in on the MARC record.

6. When you are finished filling in the information for the material select “Save Title” at the bottom of the screen.
7. Once you save the title you need enter the holding information for the record. To enter the holding information:
-Select “Add Copies” from the right hand side of the screen.
-If necessary change the status
-Enter the barcode number
-Enter the call number
-If necessary change the circulation type to the appropriate circulation type.
8. Once the holdings information has been added select “Save Copies.”
9. Verify that the correct barcode and call number have been used for the material that was cataloged.
10. Prepare the material for circulation. See the Policy and procedure for preparing materials for circulation.
