Hardware Requirements: Destiny is a web based system and will on any computer that has Internet access.

Operating System: DOS, Windows, NT, MAC compatible.

Operating Offline: In case of pro-longed Internet failure you can manually check out materials by using Destiny Remote. Destiny Remote should be installed on the librarian’s lap top computer. Also, you can use the Destiny In-Hand scanner. For more information see the Operating Offline policies and procedure section.

Online Help Features: If you are on a particular page and need help look for the ? and click on it. A screen will pop up that will give you information about the page or option.


Also, if you can’t remember how to do something or need additional instruction, select the word “Help,” located at the top right of the screen. A new tab or window will open up with Destiny’s online manual. You can enter your search in the search box, or use the table of contents feature, the index or the glossary.

Budget: For Faust Library $728.00
For the District (20 Sites) $14,573.00 which also includes the service agreement.
*The money is taken out of the district’s budget and does not come out of any of the Faust Library budgets.

Additional Features Paid For: Title Peek and Standards Search

Maintenance: Updates are automatically done once a night and are set up by the technology department. Every night the data from the Destiny server is saved on the district’s secure backup server.
Note: When students enroll in the district the school’s student information software communicates with Destiny and patrons will be automatically be uploaded into Destiny. DO NOT ADD STUDENTS TO DESTINY!

Emergency Back Up: The network manager stores a copy of the district data, including the Destiny data at an off site server that gets updated once a week.
